OnePlus 5 – Is it a Real Flagship Killer?

Today we’ll see OnePlus 5 – Is it a Real Flagship Killer? OnePlus has been launching its Flagship Smartphones since it’s birth(2014). The first smartphone was OnePlus One, then OnePlus Two, OnePlus X , OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and finally it is up with a new Smartphone, the OnePlus 5. This is the Sixth Smartphone from the Chinese Brand OnePlus. OnePlus has gained a good reputation in the market for making Cheap,Quality Phones which compete the high range smartphones in the market. Though it does not have a large customer base such as that of Samsung and Apple, but inspite of that, it has maintained a good following.Does the OnePlus 5 satisfy the title of Flaship Killer? Lets find out in this blog post.

Design:

Talking about the design first, front the front, it looks exactly like its predecessor the OnePlus 3T, whereas when we move  to the back, it resembles the iPhone 7 Plus and the Oppo R11. Many people complained and said that it is a copy of iPhone 7 Plus, but once you hold the device in front of you, it is then, that you realize the real difference between the both. The more you use the OnePlus 5, the more you’ll notice the thoughtful touches that set it apart. At just 7.25mm, the OnePlus 5 is the companies thinest flagship smartphone. One word, the overall design is Top-notch.

Camera:

Talking of the camera, it is the first OnePlus phone to have a Dual Camera setup. It is powered by a 16-megapixel rig which captures the wide shots most phones handle and a 20-megapixel sensor (telephoto lens)  which captures the zoomed-in photos. The main camera lens has a super-wide aperture of f/1.7, which ensures that photos are bright without being overexposed. The telephoto lens then has an aperture of f/2.6.  The app offers a wide array of manual control, including ISO, shutter speed, and more. The front camera comes with a 16-megapixel shooter. The camera performs pretty well and it sometimes beats the shots from iPhone 7 Plus as well. Some people tend to compare OnePlus 5’s camera with iPhone 7 Plus’s camera and claims that iPhone 7 Plus is the Best in camera, but don’t you think that both the phones are non-comparable? I mean, just have a look at its prices. iPhone 7 Plus almost costs double that of OnePlus 5.

Performance:

Moving on to the performance of the device, OnePlus 5 comes with the Snapdragon 835 Chipset coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. It is one of the first phones to get the Snapdragon 835 Processor. The octa-core processor comes clocked at 2.45GHz. OnePlus 5 has two different varients. 6GB RAM+64GB Storage which comes in a Slate Grey Colour and 8GB+128GB Storage which comes in a Midnight Black Colour. Well, the RAM’s used over here are the LPDDR4X RAM’s.

Now, coming to the battery part, it comes with the 3300mAh battery which is apparently less than its predecessor, the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 5 mobile features a 5.5″ (13.97 cm) display and runs on Android v7.1.1 (Nougat) operating system out of the box.

The phone is priced at 32,999 INR for the 6GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage and 37,999 INR for the 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage and is available on Amazon Exclusively.

Verdict:

OnePlus 5 is a pretty good phone. It has all the latest specifications under the hood. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB RAM and dual rear camera lives up to the company’s ‘Never Settle’ tagline. Carl Pei said during the smartphone launch that, the OnePlus 5 has several minor changes when you look at different departments closely. But according to me, the company should have made slightly more changes to make it a complete new package. Still, if you are looking for a smartphone at a price range of 30,000 INR – 40,000 INR, you can buy this device. It is a good buy for its price.
